DesertEagle:
Take a look at the new Magic Filters. www.magic-filters.com They're designed for shallow diving up to 15 meters with a DSLR. Bear in mind that the filters are designed for wide angle photography, not macro.

They must be magic indeed if they can put back in colors that do not exist in the light spectrum!

what do you think about the camera? and what lenses do you have for it?

I use the 14-54mm zoom in an Ikelite enclosure with dome port. I have 11 dives on it so far (as opposed to about 100 dives with a C-5060). I certainly would not go back!

The only drawback is that it is a big, heavy rig and not suitable for beach dives. Off a boat, however, it is great.

Remember, at 15' almost all red is gone from the color spectrum and orange and yellow are mostly missing too ...

so, even with color balancing, there are problems with no strobes below a few feet ...

Rick.

Most of my shots where done without a flash, and below 15'. With some minor post processing, I get reds, oranges, and a LOT of yellow :D

I'm not discouraging the use of a flash, but with the TINY flash on my camera, I'd rather turn it off and avoid backscatter. However I can not agree with your comment that there are problems below a few feet without a flash. Also as flash (most ANY flash) has an effective range of maybe 12' feet UW, even using strobes will not solve all the WB issues with WA shots.

I agree with you Ron. And if you look at what Alex Mustard (the filters guy) has been doing, it becomes obvious that CCD and CMOS sensors are capable of some amazing results without a strobe.
