I got my new Olympus PT-E01 housing for my Evolt E-300 SLR camera today.

First a word of advice:

You only need to buy the Camera housing and the lens housing. The zoom ring is included with the lens housing. The "REPLACEMENT ZOOM RING" is truly a replacement.

This may seem logical, but I called the technicians at Olympus and they assured me that I had to buy all three parts, the camera housing, the lens housing and the zoom extender ring. This is not correct. The zoom extender ring does come with the lens housing. I did find it curious that no one seemed to have the zoom extender ring in stock.

For those of you who are used to the all in one olympus cameras and housings, This beast is significantly heavier that my old C-3040 and the PT-10 housing. Definitely not a beach dive housing.

Well now that I have my toy I have to get on a boat and show everyone some photos.

Congratulations on the 300…and those technicians who told you about buying the extra part, they are also called used car salesmen!

Good thing is that since the part was not in stock I can cancell the order on Tuesday without incurring the shipping charges.

I use a UK light cannon with an opaque bilter or no strobe in less than 20'

Remember, at 15' almost all red is gone from the color spectrum and orange and yellow are mostly missing too ...

so, even with color balancing, there are problems with no strobes below a few feet ...
