Just a tip from an amateur. I have been using the Oly C2040Z in the PT-010 for some time now. Most of my pics have been in the fully Auto mode. Recently I started playing with the A/S/M mode, specifically the A mode. I have been shooting the Macro shots at F5.6 and F8 (several of each where possible) and have the internal flash on between +1.0 and +2.0 (max). The pics are much better than on the Auto mode. I am also using the optical zoom with the A/S/M - A mode at F5.6 and F8 instead of the Macro mode on some shots that are 18" to 31" and have gotten better results than in the Macro mode (macro is 7.9" to 31.5" on the 2040). This is all based on my using the internal flash as I do not want to move up to a strobe, at least not with this older 2040Z.
