wayne007:Can anyone point me to a source for info on setting up a C-5050 to work with a YS-90DX via fiber? I'm unclear as to the right settings particularly the Slave mode for the camera.
I'd appreciate any help!

ReyeR:If you shoot in A or M mode on the C5050 then set the flash menu to Slave (OK >> Mode Menu >> Camera tab >> Flash >> Slave >> Level 1). In this mode the camera doesn't fire a pre-flash ie flashes only once. On the YS-90DX switch the 'ON/OFF/PRE' switch to ON. And the 'Slave ON/OFF' switch to ON so it can be used with the fibre optical cable.
If you shoot in P or S mode on the C5050 then Slave flash is not available. In this case the camera's flash will fire a pre-flash ie flashes twice. In this case you need to switch the 'ON/OFF/PRE' switch to PRE. This will tell the YS-90DX that your camera fires a pre-flash so it should ignore the pre-flash of the C5050 and only fire in sync with the camera's main flash sequence. The 'Slave ON/OFF' switch should be ON so it can be used with the fibre optical cable. Also, dial the Flash Exposure Compensation on the C5050 all the way down to -2.0 so the camera's flash will recycle quicker and you will also save batteries.
wayne007:Thanks for the help! This is more info than I got from the manual.
I'll give it a try!
