Oly 50mm E Series Macro

Will the above listed lens achieve acceptable results while using the standard port on the Oly PT-EP03 housing?

i dont think so.... i think you need one of this items Inon MRS Olympus 50mm macro Port

and a special adaptor to conect the housing with the port. and a mmf1 or 2 adaptor for the lens.

Would the new 45mm M.Zuiko be a better, bet?

The standard Oly port is too long, while it will work, you won't get the best magnification from it.


Zen makes a small Macro port that fits the Pany 45mm very well and also has a threaded port for adding diopters. I have shot with this lens on a GH2 and have found it pretty good. Not as good or aas sharp as a 60mm Nikor, but it shot well. I would add a diopter to the front.

The new Oly MZ 45mm lens is NOT a macro lens.

While I agree the Zen port is much nicer, the standard port works. The minimum working distance from the 4mm macro lens is 6 inches, so you lose some of that due to the excess length of the standard port, and it will be much harder to position strobes around the standard port on your subject. So, with some annoyances it works, just not as beautifully as the dedicated Zen macro port.
