Hi all..Great site with a wealth of info. I'm new around here and this is my first post. I've been away from my love of diving for a little while but its time to change that. Certified in 1978 at 16 yrs old I've got well over 200 dives in but haven't dove but a few times in the last 5 yrs and none at all in the last 2 yrs. I'm replacing/upgrading some of my gear such as new Zeagle Escape BCD should be arriving any day, new 5/4 full wetsuit. Fins and mask are fine and I have been snorkeling many times lately. Thinking about my regulator situation.. I have a Sherwood magnum I bought new around 1984 as my main, I always thought it was a easy breathing and dependable reg and has never let me down even in some pretty cold water, its also still in great condition..My thoughts for possible upgrade would be a Aqualung Titan LX Supreme, a newer Sherwood magnum or maximus, a Scubapro G250 or G250v...How much better would these be than my old Sherwood which is currently being serviced..PADI basic,NAUI advanced diver, my diving taste are adventurous from mild to wild, cold to warm though warm is sounding more appealing these days.

.....well, although I own quite a few regs, the only one on your list I own is the Aqualung Titan LX, and I think it's a great performer for a very reasonable price. The good news about your 'old' reg is that, an 'old' reg, serviced/tuned by an excellent reg tech, can perform as well as or better than a 'new' reg that is poorly tuned serviced...so the tuning is just as critical as the level of 'newness'. The bad news is, the 'old' reg, even after an 'annual', is still going to have ancient 'soft' parts (diaphragms/LP and HP hoses) that all need to be replaced after 24 years (YIKES!), and if you replace all such parts, and do an 'annual', you're certainly spending a dollar amount that would buy you a brand new, warrantied, Titan LX anyway.

If you like sherwood, I would go with the new SR1. It is suppose to a super breathing, balance 1st and 2nd stage.

If you want something new, I would upgrade.
