I am digging out my old u/w camera gear and want to know what I can upgrade. I have a working non ttl substrobe ms and a cable with an eo connection to my housing. My substrobe 150 is no good although I can salvage the eo cable wired through the bulkhead.

Here is what i would like to know. Can I use my eo cable to connect to a ttl substrobe 150? I suspect the connection is a 5pin so if the answer is no can I remove the center pin on the ttl strobe?
This is only going to be used in manual mode so all I want to do is trigger the ttl strobe with my eo cable.

Can I remove the battery pack from my old non ttl 150? It doesn't want to slide out so I was wondering how its removed?

Thanks

The battery packs were not designed to be removed from the non-TTL version of the Substrobe 150. They are permanently installed and the lower electronics module would have to be disassembled to allow removal.

Are you wanting to hardwire the EO cord to a TTL 150? A detachable EO cord can be used with the TTL 150.

That is great news. I have a detachable eo that I use with my substrobe ms for macro and I think I might be able to find a 150 or 225 ttl that I can use. I didn't think the two wire eo would fire the ttl strobes even in manual. I also thought the middle pin for the ttl would interfere with the eo connection.

One last question: Can my detachable eo cord be used on the newer digital ikelite strobes for manual use?

Thanks

The detachable EO cord should NOT be used with newer DS-series digital Ikelite strobes. This could create a short and damage the battery pack or strobe electronics.

Regards,

Just to clarify-any older strobe that does not have the ds series designation would be safe? I am looking at a 100a strobe that I assume would work. Do you happen to have a time line on your website of discontinued strobes that I can refer too for future reference?

Thanks for the updates.

Sorry there's been some incorrect info posted. A 5-connector EO cord will plug into and operate to manually trigger any Ikelite strobe. A 4-connector EO cord may only be used with older non-TTL Ikelite strobes.

Please be aware that we are unable to service, repair or replace EO cords.

Many of the older strobes and cords were produced before the internet was in existence, so web references will be limited. While not linked from main index pages anymore, you can find whatever older information is available by using our site search feature.
