This is for you medical types but anyone with experience/opinions is invited to speakout. I need to have a vertebra fused at L5/L6 due to arthritic degeneration. Neurosurgeon says 3 months to recuperate. Assumbing a normal recovery are there any substantial decompression risks to be concerned about? I am aware that any traumatized area is more suseptabe to DCS. This brings the question. How much more risk? I use computer generated dive tabes with a bottom timer, deep stops, nitrox 50/50 deco gase ,plus 02 @ 20' when needed and tri-mix if I want it. My run times do not to exceed 90 minutes and my maximum depth will not exceed 150' regardless of mix.
Thanks ,
Mike

Hey ya old fart, howz it going?
Heck, if you stayed in the water all the time you wouldn't even need to have any bone grafting done.
Conversations I've had with my neurosurgeon regarding the topic indicated that there shouldn't be any significant increase of risk.
I suspect that as long as you keep things on the conservative side & mind your hydration the risk of having any bubble mischief should be minimized.
Watch out for those big tanks though, you might want to either go back to 72s or switch to surface air.

Hey Bob, I knew this, I was just trollin'.
I got even bigger tanks since I last saw ya I have E-8 130's now! Shoot they weigh almost as much as I do and half as tall. I need a darn crane to get 'em out of the water. I actually have them broken down into singles 'cause I can't pick em up. Thanks for the info. BTW are you in Florida yet?
