Going on vacation in a few weeks and have a Sartek HID canister light I want to fly with. I'm nervous traveling with it because of it's expense, but also want to bring it as it's a fantastic light.

Does anyone know if there would be a problem brining an HID canister light in my carry on luggage.

I'm thinking of doing my computer, regs, and light in my carry on and then do my bp/wings in my checked.

have done the same overseas twice. I leave eveything open and have the TSA listing for NiMH batteries being permissable.(hope you have those instead of lead acid, otherwise, they may insist on being checked)

I brought my D/R HID canister light on a trip last week. I didn't have any trouble with it (although TSA opened my bag). I also had my O2 analyzer in that bag so I suspect the TSA folks were wondering what that stuff was.

I carried my reg and computer with me on the plane and they had me open that bag too.

I was interested in bringing my Sartek light, backplate, 27# wings, regs, computers, and mask in my carry-on, and then my fins, exposure suit and spare parts and clothes in my checked bag.

I just haven't been flying with my gear and would never want them to take away my light.
