Based off of a usual conversation you might have, do you pronounce GUE: G-U-E or "gooey"?
And am I weird to say B-P-W; is that supposed to be reserved for conversations in print?

And before you ask; yes, I just had one of those arguments. :D

Depends who you are talking to. Generally GUE is "Gee You Eee". BPW is print only really, as "Back Plate and Wing" is fewer sylables than "Bee Pee Double Ew"

Usually leave the back off when talking. Plate and wing is normal speak. BPW for print. As for GUE, I've always referred to it as G-U- E. Though I did here Richie Kohler talk about it once and said he didn't care about gooey, dooey, or louie.

The only time we talk about "gooey divers" is when we're being funny. Although I did ask a Norwegian cave diver once if he knew my Cave 1 classmate, and he said, "Oh, he's one of those deer divers, isn't he." Took me a while . . .

Around here if you say "gooey diver" people think you're talking about a "gooey duck diver" ... which is, oddly, spelled "geoduck".

It's a big clam ... commercially profitable and you have to have a coveted and expensive license to harvest them.

If you're referring to the GUE folks, you say "Wednesday night Cove II" ... folks know who you mean ...

One of my instructors says "Those gooeyee, dooeyee or whatever divers" :) dooeyee being DUI

I have spent a little time in High Springs, the GUE headquarters, and I can tell you that they don't like "gooey" down there. Gee Yu EE.
