Anyone see the show "Oil, Sweat, and Rigs" on Discovery last night?
Really good show about sat divers working on the broken pipes in the gulf. They showed a job that a single diver did (only buddy was an rov) where he had to cut a 20 foot piece of pipeline which had to weigh at least a ton in 300 feet of water. Or was it 500? Well he did a 10 hour dive- 10 hours of hard labor with nitrogen saturated muscles- and on top of that had to spend 6 days in deco.
It was a really good show, they got some great shots using a black and white low light camera. Amazing work, it's rare to see decent video of the kind of work those guys have to endure.
And than right after was the crab fishing show claiming to be the "most dangerous job in the world."
...right.
It's funny to think that right out of high school I was thinking about commercial diving school. Looks like I made the right decision in not doing it. heh. Still looks like amazing work though, I wish I was that caliber of diver.
