Oil for Mako/Bauer K-14

Hello:

The previous owner used some sort of Mako mineral oil for my new to me Mako/Bauer K-14 9.2 cfm.

Is it ok to use Nuvair 455 in this compressor or should I use something else?

Why not use the Nuvair 800 instead? AKA Chemlube 800, Bauer Synthetic oil. It's $9/gallon more, but has a higher flash point.

The guy I talked to said that diester oils could dissolve deposits on the cylinder walls. If this happens it would cause enough damage to have to rebuild the compressor.

The 455 is a synthethic not mineral oil, but it is not diester based so it has less of a chance of removing the deposits.

A good lubricant's job is to dissolve deposits and keep them in suspension until you change the oil.

Change it to Chemlube 800, then change it again in a few hours if you're worried about it.

A good synthetic may be too good.

The Bauer K14 manual has a big warning about switching from mineral to synthetic oils as well. They say you have to disassemble and clean the compressor before changing to synthetic otherwise really bad things will happen.

first of all excuse my english
I´m a servicetechnician by Bauer-Poseidon Austria and i have one tipp for changing oil in compressors.
NEVER switch mineral oil to synthetic oil !!
If you have rests ( smallests are enough) of Oil into the system you can get a chemical reaction and you can damage the compressor !!
I`f seen this many times.
Use always the same oil ...
