I'd call Guinness, since the largest one ever accurately reported was about 14'.

And in the octo video you're talking about the GPO was about 8'. I had a long conversation with the videographer in a Monterey dive shop and he confirmed it.

I spearfished almost my entire life. Maybe 15 years ago or so I was diving and spotted a nice octopus and proceeded to grab him. As I fought to control him his mate came out and looked at me like "what the f...k are you doing?". There was so much intellegence in their eyes I found myself feeling guilty. I let the one go and have never tried to harm one again. I've never experienced that feeling shooting fish or collecting lobster....Adventure-Ocean

At the other end of the octopus spectrum is this small long armed octopus. The distance between the eyes is only an inch. A young'n for sure.

It swam away, and all but one of the tentacles had be damaged. Poor little thing is gonna have a tough life...
