What a crock!!!! Whoever wrote that copy was trying to sell sensationalism. That episode was, obviously, the result of the common west coast sport of trying to "wrestle" an octo away from the bottom. The octo was holding on and fighting back, not being the original aggressor. I've spent 30+ years diving with octos and can read some of what is going on by what I can see. I was rooting for the octo. If I had seen him hasseling the octo, I would have done more than pull his ask off.
 
I've played tug-a-war with small octopi ... they have incredible strength for their size.
 
LOL seems Allison Finch might have a thing for the octopus lol ;)
