No, not THAT Octomom. Merry seemed to attract a lot of octopus today. We decided to make a long shallow dive to shoot video and pictures of the tiny critters of Redondo Beach. Patchy red tide kept us in the same area for most of the dive, so we only covered about 2000 square feet. Even in drysuits, we were getting cold by the time we turned the dive. Visibility was a cloudy fifteen feet near the edge of the canyon, with three feet near shore.
This tiny reef was actually a well-camouflaged crab.

Sweet Shots Bottomtime! I especially like the crab below the Octobaby pic. I love how the first crab shot in your video has a barnacle attached to it and you can see it sifting out the passing nutrients. Very Cool :)

Phil, we did a dive last week at vets and that is what kept crossing my mind, Where is octo mom? There were oodles of the little fellas! They always seem kind of clumsy when there little, like they have a few too many legs to manage.

Thanks for the shots!

went out tonight and saw the baby octopus but my pictures are blurry. i need to learn how to use my new camera light.
