Just got the Oct. issue if Dive Training.

on the last page of the magazine there is an article on the
proper way to fly the red and white dive flag.

Q. I have always seen the flag flown with the white stripe going from the upper left to the lower right.
even the icons on this forum show the flag this way.

The magazine says that this is wrong and the stripe should go from the upper right corner to the lower left.

Is there a proper way to fly this flag, do you give some sort of other message if you fly the flag " upside down"?

Has this magazine printed an article that is totally wrong?

The article says:
"Fly a red-and-white dive flag with the stripe running from the top of the staff side to the bottom of the opposite corner".

If the wind blows from left to right (as you look at the staff) then the flag will appear as it does on the website, dive stickers, etc. If the wind blows from right to left, then it will look "backwards" as you are essentially looking at the backside of the flag.

I had this exact conversation with my dive buddy!
