Hello all, i need to get an Octo because im not happy with my diverite octo/air inflator, I use a great Atomic M1 as my main reg and i was curious if i should get another M1 as my Octo which i will have bungeed on my necklace, the reason is that down the road i wish to satrt tech/doubles diving and think it would suit this perfectly, what are your opinions, buy another M1 and be done with it or a cheaper secondary octo, what would you do, money is not a factor (birthday gift),.

Since you'll have the "okto" on a bungee, you allready know who's going to use what in a OOG.
So I'd say get the other M1. You'll love it.:D

Agreed, if you are going to dive with a bungee backup, (tech config) then I too would say just spend a few bucks and get another Atomic. Could even be a Z2, but you know how it will breath and you can dial it down when hung on your neck so it is less likely to leak air and just dial it up when you need to breathe it.

For a single tank, I dive with a bungied Dive Rite 1215, their unbalanced octo. I have breathed it at 100 feet just out of curiosity and it is fine. I would have no issues breathing it if I had to give my primary to my buddy. This octo may be discontinued but Edd at Cave Adventurers, caveadventurers.com - Home, has them for $50 or so. FWIW, I use an M1 and a Z2 for doubles and they are both great regs.

I always recommend staying with 1 brand as it make getting gear serviced much easier in some cases. Just my opinion though.
