I think the 250 works great. It's very user friendly and has a battery which is user-replaceable. The battery seems to go on forever.

I have a Veo 250 question regarding the visual alarms. When an alarm is activated does the backlighting on the whole unit flash or does just the LCD number flash? Thanks.

I'm going to go with the Veo 250. I likey. Cool features. What's the cheapest (authorized dealer) quote out there for this DC? scuba.com is at $379.95 USD.

It's a updated versa pro made to fit in all their consoles and boots so everything is interchangeable. Saving them money being standardized.

I ordered mine from ScubaToys and received it yesterday. I have yet to get wet with it but in the sim/demo mode, a tiny red strobe along with beeps, and the LCD flashes during an alarm. I'm not sure if the backlight flashes when you're night diving, but if it doesn't, the red flashing and the beeping is enough to get your attention. All in all, I'm liking this thing alot so far. The Sim/Demo mode is perfect for learning how to use the DC. I can't wait to get some dives in with it!

I had a Veo 200. Was fine till the original battery died. Cover has changed from the older ones, that just opened and tightened with a quarter. Opened OK, hard time getting the cover back on. Leaked. Took it to local dealer who broke the cover trying to install a battery. Took 3 weeks to get a new cover (which came with o ring and battery). He finally got it installed and it worked ok, but the battery was dead in 2 months and only a dozen or so dives. Replaced battery again, wrestled with the cover for an hour. Battery does again in about 2 months (first lasted about 40 dives and well over a year, maybe longer). Took it to the dealer who sent it off to see if it could be repaired. Big hassle when I couldn't find my receipt (who saves all their receipts?), finally sent it off anyway. That was May 2006. Still diving my backup computer!!!! At this moment, I wouldn't buy an Oceanic anything.
