Oceanic Veo 100 set mode

A friend of mine just purchased a Veo 100 and he is wanting to access the set mode feature to edit the units, water activation, etc... The manual states that the button should be pressed for 2 seconds while the unit is in surface sequence to access these features. When he tries this, the unit goes to PC download mode and begins counting down from 2 minutes. He can't seem to get past this PC download screen to edit the set mode features. Interestingly, the Veo 100 doesn't even feature PC downloading capability. Has anyone encountered this issue with the Veo 100?

Then I'd say it's broke... or goofed up... One of the two. It's the same as an aeris atmos 1, and I just doulble checked one by pushing the button and sure enough, goes to set - first feet / meters, etc...

If it doesn't do that, I'd take it back and have it replaced.
