Hi,

I need a new compass, can anyone tell me if the Oceanic SWIV compass comes in a southern hemisphere version or if the standard version works in the southern hemisphere?

Thanks
Cameron

Hi Cameron,
Yes Oceanic does make southern hemisphere compasses. There is a definite difference between the Northern hemisphere compasses and the southern hemisphere compasses. The disk inside is weighted differently depending on the hemisphere you are in.

Using a Northern Hemisphere compass in the southern hemisphere may cause the disk to trap easier and the same holds true for the opposite.
Would you like your Oceanic Southern Hemisphere compass in the hose mount, wrist or module to put in your oceanic swiv console.
Feel free to e-mail me at roy@visibilityunlimited.com if I can help.
