Hey folks! Anyone have any comments on the Oceanic Slimline Octopus? Is it a reliable alternate airsource? I like the 'slimness' of it, but why it so cheap? Thanks for any input!

...and it has been a reliable second for two years now. However, last week, it began leaking. Somehow, it got out of whack. I made an adjustment, but will still take it in to have it serviced.

I am thinking of getting another, more highly rated and reliable, second stage to serve as the octo. The Slimline fit my budget when I was looking for my first set of gear (spent a lot on my primary first and second), and has been decent, but I need something more robust now.

I've had the slimline for about 2.5 years now at 120 dives with no problems. No it is not the best performering regulator...not even the same ballpark as the Atomic T2 second that it sits by BUT...it does what it is supposed to do. It has been reliable and provided air at all depths that I have tested it in. Every few dives or so, my buddy and I test our alternate air delivery at depth to see how they perform. There has to be a compromise somewhere as this is not a high performance Reg but it does do what it is designed to do. The low profile design sits flat against your BC when not in use as well. Just some thoughts.
