I do a lot of my own regulator servicing, but I have yet to figure out how to tune an Oceanic Omega II second stage to make it breathe a little easier. I can disassemble it, replace parts, and reassemble it, but I just need to know what to turn or adjust to make the initial inhalation effort easier. There is a small screw on the inside, in the middle of the inner working parts, but it seems to be in a fixed position.

Please skip the part about how I should take it to an authorized service technician. ;)

Any ideas?

Thanks!

This is one reg that a manual is a good thing to have when rebuilding thr reg.

The screw you mentioned is not a screw to be screwed with ion the normal sense.
It's more of a bolt with a slotted end to allow the air to flow out of the servo diaphram.
Do not use a screw driver on it.

You can adjust the breathing performance by adjusting the small plastic screw on the exaust diaphram.

You should get a manual for this reg, it is different from a normal reg.
The other option is....you could drive up to Pittsburgh and i'll rebuild and adjust it for you at our shop.
See, I didn't tell you to bring it to an authorized technican.

I appreciate the replies and info. A small turn of the plastic screw on the exhaust diapragm makes a lot of difference. Now if I can just get it to breathe a little drier, instead of holding so much water in the barrel underneath the mouthpiece!

Thanks!

I actually slightly twisted my mouthpiece so the exhaust was lower, viola, dry.

As I mentioned in a similar thread: Drill a small hole in the middle of the purge valve. It will still work fine and will permit you to insert a small screwdriver and thus adjust.

take the purge valve BUTTON off the regulator first. He meant the purge valve button to drill, not the purge valve per say.

Not that I'm recommending this. Any Oceanic dealer can also order one with the hole drilled.

Ah ... proper terminology is everything. Thanks.
