So I finally got to dive with the new OCi's and well ... it was a mixed bag. Mine functioned flawlessly and I loved the lower profile over the VT 4.1 I returned. The screen was easy to read underwater and at least I thought it looked stylish as hell, which increased my buoyancy proficiency by a factor of 10 (ok, maybe not).
The wife's however did not function quite so flawlessly. The first dive was great, but on the second dive the computer would not get a pressure reading from the transmitter. I tried all manner of things such as purging regs, turning off tank and purging, and anything I could think of to turn it on. After being the last divers on the boat for 5 minutes, we switched her to a borrowed regulator set. I never did get to experiment on whether or not it was the transmitter or the watch, I was planning to switch the transmitter code on her watch to mine but never got the chance to. Needless to say that it is going back to the LDS tomorrow for troubleshooting and/or replacement (which sucks because they only had our two). I'll also be buying two SPGs ... maybe with Veo100Nx as backups.
So on the next thing, Dive Log 5.0 does NOT read this computer. I tried using the VT 4.1 settings and the OC1 settings and neither worked. I use DiveBoard.com to store my logs and luckily the version of OceanLog included on the disk CAN read the computer. I ended up exporting the log as a DAN L7 file and was able to import it into DiveBoard. Unfortunately, Dive Log would crash trying to import the same file
I guess for now we'll just have to wait for libdivecomputer to catch up. On a positive note, I like the new connector much better than the one on the VT.
Let me know if you have any questions!
PS: I didn't get the teal version, both my wife and I's are black/titanium. I ended up threading different color string through the last two loops of the bracelet so we could easily identify them.
