Ok so what is the deal with Oceanic and the OCI? are they having some major problems or something? i have been wanting to get this since June, but they keep delaying it. i dont like how they have it advertised as shipping at the end of june and get a free transmitter with purchase of the DC when its not even available at the end of July! I have emailed Oceanic in June and they said it will be shipping late July and not June as advertiesed. I still have not seen them on the market. My dive shop said there is no ETA for them and when they get them they will be hard to get. Im hoping i can snag one soon. Any inside info available as to what the heck is going on with these watches? is there some manufacturing/software issues?

Dive Right In told me shipping probably Friday. The manual showed up on Oceanic's site too. I got the impression it was a supply related issue.

Yup, i was lucky enough to find one online for $750 shipped with full warranty and the free transmitter :cool2:

My dive shop has 2 locations and every one of those darn OCI's were spoken for :( i was told it would be a month or more before they get another shipment. which is lame, i prefer to give my buisiness to the local shop rather than an internet company. but i have been dieing to get this DC for months now.

Just got it an hour ago. It functions just like the VT4.1 except that it has an extra "light" button. I'll get to get it wet tomorrow if the winds don't decide to ruin my plans. One thing to note that I did not see listed anywhere is that it DOES bring a screen protector. That was a big worry considering how scratched up my VT4.1 got. It's about the size of a heavy watch but nothing too crazy and can definitely be worn as an everyday watch (probably not by ladies though). Here it is compared to my citizen diver's watch and a generic smaller faced fossil:

Nice! It looks awesome.

Looks you got yours in teal. I've ordered mine in yellow (possible shark bait? - haha).

Please let us know how you like it once you get a chance to take it underwater. Tks!

So I finally got to dive with the new OCi's and well ... it was a mixed bag. Mine functioned flawlessly and I loved the lower profile over the VT 4.1 I returned. The screen was easy to read underwater and at least I thought it looked stylish as hell, which increased my buoyancy proficiency by a factor of 10 (ok, maybe not).

The wife's however did not function quite so flawlessly. The first dive was great, but on the second dive the computer would not get a pressure reading from the transmitter. I tried all manner of things such as purging regs, turning off tank and purging, and anything I could think of to turn it on. After being the last divers on the boat for 5 minutes, we switched her to a borrowed regulator set. I never did get to experiment on whether or not it was the transmitter or the watch, I was planning to switch the transmitter code on her watch to mine but never got the chance to. Needless to say that it is going back to the LDS tomorrow for troubleshooting and/or replacement (which sucks because they only had our two). I'll also be buying two SPGs ... maybe with Veo100Nx as backups.

So on the next thing, Dive Log 5.0 does NOT read this computer. I tried using the VT 4.1 settings and the OC1 settings and neither worked. I use DiveBoard.com to store my logs and luckily the version of OceanLog included on the disk CAN read the computer. I ended up exporting the log as a DAN L7 file and was able to import it into DiveBoard. Unfortunately, Dive Log would crash trying to import the same file :( I guess for now we'll just have to wait for libdivecomputer to catch up. On a positive note, I like the new connector much better than the one on the VT.

Let me know if you have any questions!

PS: I didn't get the teal version, both my wife and I's are black/titanium. I ended up threading different color string through the last two loops of the bracelet so we could easily identify them.

Tks Music Man!

Good to know that your OCi worked out well. Sorry to hear about your wife's OCi is having issues.

I am gonna keep my fingers crossed since I won't be able to take mine for a dive trip until the end of this year.

I would think that the OceanLog issue will be fixed in the near-future.

It will be interesting to see what other users have to say about their OCi.

I've been waiting more than six weeks for my OCI .My dealer contact person has been told by Oceanic factory reps that a lag in parts supply is the reason for the delay.
