I was looking to get the OC1 or the D9...

Which do you use and/or recommend?

I currently have the Suunto cobra as a dive computer but wanted to get a dive watch..

I would go with the D9 you will like the compass and the dive profile better then the compass and the dual algorithm.

I just posted in another thread about this... leaving my longtime Vyper for an Oceanic ProPlus. Tired of being the only one on the dive boat in deco all the time!

any ideas on the durability of an oc1? im a dive instructor and looking into a oc1 but worried it will just like crap after two weeks or 30 dives.

ps. i guide divers all the time, suunto is great for one dive... after that leave it on the boat your second dive will be short

I'm not defending the OC1 (don't own one, never used one, don't plan to buy one either) but why do you suspect it will self-destruct in a couple of weeks... ?

Well the OC1 has had 4 to 5 updates in the last year and the D9 has had 1 in 4 years. I am a big fan of oceanic and suunto computer but for technical diving suunto the choice.

If you are diving Bikini atoll you can't use a oceanic computer which may change with the oc1 if you are using the PZ+ algorithm. In Chuuk (Truk) my VT3 and Vytec work about the same at the end of the week.

As for the durability note, i have a friend who is offering it me for 750 but the watch has already had the lens film come off on the 25th dive so a bit worried about excited about the price.

I have about 50 dives on mine and it works great. The lens film is a joke I'm amazed it lasted that long mine didn't survive the first dive before falling off.
