Ok delta 4 is top of my list.

Has anyone used the oceanic gt3? The review I found said the DVT caused a "dolphin" like noise.

I need to buy two primary Regs, an excursion BCD and a veo180 (computer) and my wife and I will be well outfitted.
thanks

I have used a GT3 for a little over a year now on approximately 25 dives and have been extremely happy with it. The breathing is very easy and just serviced was like new again. You should be very satisfied with this gear.

I've used the GT3 now for well over 100 dives and it has worked great for me...clear warm water, cold silty water and even at 150'.

However, the swivel octo that comes with it SUCKS!!!!!!! It free flows too easily and it just feels cheap. My octo was serviced twice, replaced and then serviced again.

There are currently two versions of the GT3 with CDX5 1st stage that can be found for sale, the new model CDX5 with DVT and the one it is replacing the CDX5 without DVT. About a 180 buck price difference between the two, Just wanted to make sure you knew this as the non DVT is still on some shelves.

I just got a great deal on the GT3/CDX-5 without DVT. Probably not many left around, but if you can pick one up they are an excellent reg for an even better price. I got mine for $175!

The DVT is not worth the extra $180 bucks. (in my opinion). The regular CDX5 will do you fine.

I agree with the few above regarding the dvt. If you are careful with your gear the dvt is a 180 buck gimmick. Save your money and get a cdx5 non dvt. I've got two of them. One on a delta 3 and the other on a gt3 that is currently on a bungee but will soon be on it's own first stage since I picked up my newly O2 cleaned and filled doubles yesterday! My new single tank recreational rig will be my alpha 7 with a cdx first stage with the envirokit. If I'm diving for fun though I'll just put the hoses back on one 1st stage when not diving doubles. If you get two gt3's non dvt you'll be able to spend more on your comps and get veo a 250 perhaps. And last time I heard Oceanic still has some cdx5's w/out dvt in stock. So if your dealer does not have it he should be able to order it. If I hadn't just spent what I did on getting 5 tanks O2 cleaned and the doubles put together I'd buy another cdx5 for back up or stage useage. I also think the GT3 w/cdx5 breathes better than the delta 4 with FDX10 even though they have corrected the quacking issue.

Good idea to get the VEO 250 as others on the board have said the two buttons will take you through the menu's much faster than the one button on the 180. Also don't forget when buying your SPG that in order to use the VEO 250 in a console it must be able to accomodate the second button on the side. I made an error buying a used console and had to re-purchase an oceanic swivel console that would hold the computer properly. This console is not needed if you intend to wear the VEO 250 on your wrist.

I like My GT3, it is non DVT and was a great deal.

I saw in these postings a reference to using multiple sets of regulators. Is it necessary / advisable to have a dedicated (O2 cleaned) regulators dedicated to Nitrox only use for recreation diving (40 or below mix), or do you guys think it is ok to use the same reg for both air and nitrox diving? I just had my GT3 serviced for nitrox. OK to use it for air as well or will this mess it up for nitrox? Thanks for your advise.

Below 40% its OK to use the same reg on both air and nitrox. It only becomes an issue as the O2 percentage increases.
