In one of the other threads I heard (read) someone talk about Oceanic Delta regs being used for doubles config. So what do you guys think of the new Oceanic Delta 4? Is it worth looking into? Or should one stick with the Apeks/SP/Poseidon line?

The first stage sorta reminds me of the Mares line, but I like the size of the second stage.

Any comments on the reg?

ps. I figured I'll post this in a new thread since in my old posts, the discussions turned into SP servicing rituals

1) Its new.
2) It comes with a first stage with a new type of valve that doesn't allow it to get flooded.
3) Nobody seems to have them them in just yet. (see #1)

Apparently older Delta second stages were liked by tech divers because they could be partially hand disassembled under water -- like some Scubapro's and some Apeks'. Dunno if thats still true of the new ones...

The oceanics are ok. The delta regs are light weight and the adjustment works really well. When it is properly tuned you can get it to breathe 0 inches of water. The second stages differ from most other adjustables as they are mechanically balanced instead of pneumatically like Apeks-Sp-Aqualung. As mentioned you will not likely find much feedback about them as they are brand new. I am not sure if they use the same one, but the environmental seal on the DX4 was the weakpoint of the reg. It is not very effective. Personally I find that around me, they are for the same price or less I can get and Apeks and it is that much more worth it. But it could be different where you are.

I use the Delta 3's as my second stages and they are great. easily pulled aprt underwater and breathe really nice. I use them in combination with the DS4 as they are lighter and smaller than the tx50 seconds.

I have an older Delta and it breathes like a CHAMP. It's my "in the bag" backup.

I own the Delta 4/FDX10 setup... and let me tell you that it's a great piece of gear. It breathes as good or better than some of the top of the line stuff on the market and is just a solid reg.

Love mine.

it's been out a year now

Everybody (oceanic dealers) have them in.

It is more than good enough for tech diving, however with a DIN fitting you wont be getting the new dry valve, just a normal DIN.

If ou search Delta 4 you'll find lots of coments here(including miine) on using it.

PM me if I can help.

It's 2006 now. (Maybe someone searching on "delta 4" will find thids) I bought a "Delta 4" used from the shop's retal department. Bought it for my son who had just completed OW class. I dove it myself at the beach several times before giving it to him. Took it down to 110 feet. It breaths as well as my Apex reg and above about 60 feet the Delta can supply some "over presure" if you open the adjustment all the way. Overall I'm impresed. Solid build quality and good breathing

For tech diving I'm going with a set of Salvo regs. They are so much like DiveRite that the service kits even interchance. Same overseas factory. Salvo are $250 per set of 1st, 2nd and hose. on-line parts sales makes them servicble, Just keep a rebuild kit in the spares box and have a local tech do the work or get trainning and tools and do it yourself
