You mean a Delta 4, right? If so then no a regular LP will not work. If I remember right that swivel end is the only thing that will work. As far as the Alpha thing goes I would say no but have not tried it. If you get anything to work please let me know I would be very interested.

The coupling for the swivel on the second stage can be changed. I don't have the part number handy. Will not be in a position to get it for a couple more days. You can call an oceanic dealer or PM one of the factory guys in the Oceanic forum. Your only other option is to buy a 7ft swivel hose from them. BTW you can only get the part thru a dealer and I'd suggest having them install it (they'll probably insist on it anyway, and it should take a minimum amount of time to do it) so as not to void the warranty and be sure everything is adjusted correctly. As to whether the Alpha coupling will work I'm not sure but it may. What you run into is making sure the regs is properly tuned once you do it. The seat is adjusted via the coupling with an inline tool. If you don't have the tool or a manual you may run into problems. Sorry I can't be more help but as an Oceanic Authorized tech I can't encourage you to do any mods yourself and I'd be remiss if I provided specific info on how to do so, as well as risk my certification.

Wow! Really? The design is so non-standard that changing the coupling or switching out their own hoses would risk voiding the warranty? And explaining to someone how to do that work themselves would risk your certification as an authorized technician?

Not trying to be a troll but... Wow! Really?

That simply can't be right, I must be misreading your above post somehow...

You are not misreading my post. As an authorized tech I cannot encourage anyone to work on their own regs without factory training. Also Oceanic will only sell parts like this to dealers. Certain repair items can be bought. Other parts that require dissassembling the stages of the reg are supposed to be done only by an authorized tech. In todays society if I told you how to do a repair and you screwed it up and died I'd be opening my self up to a major suit filed by your heirs even if it was your fault. They would not care that you were the cause, they would only see that I allowed your ignorance to be put to use by "encouraging you to do the mod yourself by giving you the directions. Then I would have to hire a lawyer, go to court, of take advantage of my Sicilian heritage and kill all your heirs.:11::D

As for Chris's post on how to do this you may take note that he is no longer with Oceanic and to my knowledge was involved in sales. BTW how many average divers even have an in-line tool available?

Sorry, no offense intended. I briefly owned owned an Alpha 7 once, I'm guessing this Oceanic design must be substantially different somehow. I even looked at the current Delta 4 regulator owner's manual online (pdf link) but it didn't say anything specific about non-user servicable LP hoses. The only local Oceanic dealer went out of business, so I readily admit haven't had a chance to look at the current line firsthand.

I have Apeks regs with two seconds and three firsts (two DIN, one yoke) and it seems like I'm always swapping something between them: LP hoses (7', 5', 40", 22"), inflator hoses, SPGs, first stages, second stages, even the occasional 90° swivel, etc. without any factory training. That's why this didn't make sense to me. In fact, it still doesn't. Then again, neither did the old (pre-XTX) Apeks first stages with that one stupid 1/2" LP port...

Hi, I was the "friend" in question here, and my dive store here in NZ made the switch for me so I'm now happy as my Delta4 has got no swivel anymore and will fit a standard hose.
Now, I have the original hose and swivel if anyone wants to make their Oceanic reg a swivel - make me a reasonable offer, pay the postage (from New Zealand - be warned! - should be about $25US I reckon but haven't checked) and it's yours. If no one wants it, no worries - it'll sit in my kit bag!
(You would need to check that it could be adapted safely before you make an offer though).

For those out there it was quite cheap at my local store to get it done so still made it cheaper than buying the 7ft hose with swivel (and reduces the potential failure points) from Oceanic. I'm happy.
