Oceanic Cruz

Good Afternoon,

Does anyone out there have any experience with Oceanic's Cruz BC? It looks like a heavy duty, relatively compact, jacket BC. Is it a well made durable BC? A good purchase?

I watched a product demo video, and it appears to be a donut style, back inflate jacket. Can anyone confirm?

Any info on the BC would be appreciated. I am a recreational diver only, I have tried BP/W and yet still am drawn to a jacket.

My 12 yr old daughter has this BC. Just asked her, she confirmed a donut, back inflate. She likes her BC, she likes the pockets. However, she does NOT like the fact that it only has one D ring. The D ring has been a hang up for her. Other than the D ring issue, she does like it. I hear about this one D ring every time we go out. My husband has the Probe, has several D rings, if that is a concern.

Thanks for the response. Not too concerned with the D rings.

I did read that there were 2 plastic D rings and 1 metal, plus a bunch of grommets to add on components. Perhaps I read wrong about the 2 plastic ones.

I think you are right about the plastic ones. If I remember right, they are on the straps and everything floats if you try to connect something to them. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions, I can either ask her or look for myself.

I have this BC. I really like it a lot. It is made really well. I along with TDDFleming wish it had another D-ring. But other than that this BC suits me well. I looked at the Probe when buying and didn't feel the extra $100 was worth it pretty much for one D-ring and a self adj cumberbund. I much rather used that $100 in upgrading my reg.

Found the Oceanic Excursion (back inflate bcd as opposed to a jacket) for a similar price so I went with that. It had more good press, not that I read anything bad about the Cruz.

Yup, three of us dove with the excursion in the keys over the holidays. Excellent bcd, no regrets.
