I apologize if this has been covered before (and I'm sure it has). I'm looking to buy a new regulator/octo/gauge setup.
I don't want to spend a fortune, but don't want to get junk either, especially since I need this gear to breathe!

One dealer has a US Divers/Aqualung Titan LX
(1st & 2nd) for $370, which seems a bit high to me.
The other shop offers the Oceanic CDX Alpha regulator (1st and 2nd stages) for $270. Is this a good deal? Is it good gear?

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Berklee;

Go for the Oceanic. Which is a fine reg. I heard alot !! of good stories about these reg. Aqualung: dont know much about this model but i have tried the aqualung Glacia which comes with a dry sealed system en breathes very good. But still the oceanic is better i think!Dont get fooled by prices! Oceanic is cheaper but also better i think. US-Diver: I never saw a US-diver. Everyone talks about it, can anyone send their website ? Anyway i never saw a us-dviver in the Netherlands.

hope this helped, good luck!

The Alpha is one of the few low end regs that is worth owning. It is highly rated by various testers, even in side by side in water tests with other brands. A price of $270 sounds high for this excellent but inexpensive reg. You can get the deluxe Delta 3 adjustable reg for that price. The CDX compact first stage seems to be the right choice for either.

excellent reg and first stage for the value i have been diving one for a few months now and am vey impressed,i was used to diving a zeagle zrd which is the apeks model but so far i haven't noticed a great deal of difference in performance but will soon put it to the test on some deeper high current dives.

I got the Oceanic in January and am well pleased with it. I bought it based on a recommendation from the dive shop i was using and the fact that it had an excellent write up in Rodale's Scuba Diving.
