Hi all,

after some advice really.

My friends and I are headed up to oban this weekend and are booked onto the puffin RIB. Problem is there are 16mph westerlies forecast and 4.5ft swells.

I am aware that there is some protection from Mull and we may be able to get in on the lee of the island. Just wondering if anybody has any idea if we will be able to dive or if we should just scrap it and head to the east coast instead...

thanks

Paul

You won't get any swell in the Sound of Mull and, as you say, the island shelters pretty much all of the dive sites. The principle problem is the crossing from Oban to Mull but 16mph westerlies shouldn't cause any problems to one of Puffin's big RIBs.

I'd suggest sticking to your plan. I reckon you'll do the Thesis and Heather Island, but that's just a wild guess:wink:

We went, its was absolutely flat calm, the viz was fantastic and we all had a great time.

Did the thesis and the breda and a few scenic dives. Very pleasant weekend!! :)
