Tthis is definetly sad news.

A diving mishap off the shores of Oakville’s Bronte Harbour has led to the death of one scuba diver.

Three men went out on a diving trip around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon when something went wrong.

The marine unit was called and two of the three divers were pulled from the water with no vital signs.

The two men were rushed to the hospital, where one died. The other one is in good condition.

Halton police are investigating what caused the diving trip to go wrong.

The identity of the deceased diver hasn’t been released

What I heard was that they were not on SCUBA when the accident happened. They also were not on the wreck. They were headed out to the Jessie Ann apparently and a specific charter was named but as an unconfirmed boat/charter.

Were all three people pulled out with no vitals? I got a different impression but then we are working with no accurate information so I suppose nobody really knows yet.

Definitely sad news.

A massive search off the shores of Bronte Harbour in Oakville for two of missing scuba divers has ended in tragedy with one of the two men dying in hospital.

Three men were on a charter boat during a diving expedition when a mishap happened at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The marine unit was dispatched after a distress call was received and two divers were found in the water. One was missing vital signs.

They were rushed to hospital, where one man was pronounced dead. The other two divers are believed to be alright.

Halton Regional Police are investigating how the diving accident occurred.

Hamilton Spectator has a few more details and shows the Zodiac in the photo with the alleged dive operator charter name.

Here is the latest from insidehalton.com

" An autopsy will be held today to determine what exactly killed a 37-year-old Welland man who died, Wednesday, following a scuba diving excursion off the coast of Oakville.

Police said three men, all experienced divers from the Niagara Region, were exploring a shipwreck and were about 130 feet underwater when something went wrong.

“The one diver looked over and the second diver indicated that he was in distress. The first diver went over to him and tried to help him out; they exchanged their emergency air bottles and they started up towards the surface,” said Sgt. Brian Carr, Halton police spokesperson.

“The diver who is now deceased became more distressed. The other diver kept it together. They had to slow (their ascent); they were going up too fast. At this point we don’t know if the deceased diver suffered medical distress in the water or equipment distress. We’re not sure, the investigation is continuing.”

Police received a mayday distress signal from the divers’ boat at around 3:30 p.m. with marine units from Halton, Peel and Toronto responding.

The two divers involved in the emergency were taken to east pier of Oakville Harbour where they were transferred to ambulances and taken to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with undetermined injuries.

The diver who went into distress has since died while the diver who came to his aid is now listed in fair condition.

A third diver was in the water, but was some distance away from the other two and was not involved in their ascent and was not injured."

Apparently CP24 was desperate for a story and put their own modified version of the truth on their broadcast yesterday at 8:00pm. So they were in fact on a wreck and were in fact diving at the time. From what I could find the Jesse-Ann is not in 130 ffw so that is another error. Oh well, if journalists were not allowed to take creative liberties, the news would be boring :shakehead:.

It is sad to lose another diver, especially one this close to home.

The Jesse Ann is 62ft at the top, though I don't know that is what they were diving. The Jesse Ann is closer to the Trafalgar Harbour, not Bronte.
