Oahu - Dec to Jan

Hi all. 1st post here. The wife and I will be in Oahu from 12/28/07 to 01/12/07 and staying with friends who live on the island. While on Oahu, we will be diving with Captain Bruce. We had dove with them in 2002 when were there and were impressed with the operation. From 01/07/07 to 01/10/07 we are flying over to Kauai. While there we will be taking a Na Pali Coast Tour with Blue Dolphin Charters. Supposedly we are able to get a dive or a snorkel in off the catamaran. Has anyone taken this trip before?

When r u diving with Bruce? We'll be out there at the same time and planning to dive with CB during the 1st week of January. Are you doing only West side dives, or planning a trip to East/South shores?

Wildcard and I went to Kauai for our honeymoon in October. We did not take the Na Pali cruise, but the advertising indicates you can snorkel on those cruises. Taking a quick look at the Kauai dive map, I don't see many sites located on the Na Pali coast. AquamanKauai can probably give you more information from a locals perspective. We DID take the helicopter tour up Waimea Canyon and up the Na Pali coast and that was a blast. Would highly recommend it.

We are booked on Jan 3,4,5 morning trips. I am not sure where they are diving but was told that it would be 3 days of different dive sites.

According to the brochure they sent us you can either snorkel or do a one tank dive at "the forbidden island of Niihau". I think we are going to opt for the one tank dive

might be a bit choppy near Niihau this time of the year - but I'm not Kauai'i expert. Besure to ask before you book!

I just put in a reservation to dive with Bruce on 1/2, 1/3... and maybe on 1/4 or 1/5. We want to do a dive on the south shore (Sea Tiger or YO-257 & San Pedro) on 1/4 or 1/5. Any recommendations on these sites or who to go with?

Yeah I dont think any ops charter to niihau this time of year.

We were hoping to sneak in a dive to Niihau in October and it was completely done for the season (until at least May)
