UV light must hit the germs to kill them, so you would have to constantly be moving the part around, and even then, run he risk of missing spots where they might hide out. Also, the UV levels necessary to sanitize may well be strong enough to damage soft parts over time. If you really feel the need to disinfect a reg, just dunking the 2nd in a disinfectant solution should do the trick. This has the advantage that the stage won't have to be dissassembled as far, since the solution will leach into any crevices and concealed spaces where germs might hide.
Rebreather divers have to regularly disinfect their rigs, and there are a number of solutions routinely used for that purpose that won't harm the gear, any of which would be equally usable for regulators. They are endlessly discussed on most RB forums.

jsmith89:I know in the lab I work at we use UV Light to kill off most contaminants and it works really well and really fast. Why not just disassemble the reg and stick it under a good UV Light for 5 minutes?
