It’s looking good so far for diving the South Cove on Saturday. The winds are supposed to be out of the SW which is favorable for there. We have had a stormless week so hopefully the viz has improved. The marine forecast is calling for 2-3’ seas.
BUT – at Nubble you never know! Sometimes the forecast for this part of the coast is good and you get there and the conditions around the island and coves are a real challenge: other times the forecast looks bad, yet you have almost flat seas and no surge. I never know if I am diving there or not until I get out of my car and look out over the egde. I’ll be going in around 1:30 or 2. Anyone that shows up is welcome to join me. I normally dive alone but we can buddy up or dive same day/same ocean arrangement.

Two years ago I FINALLY dove the Nubble on a week day early in the morning and it was like a whole new site to me! After years of going on Saturdays with classes of students I was convinced the Nubble was nothing but a silted out bowl of seaweed salad so I was very excited when we got in and could see more then 20 feet with out being surrounded by dozens of other divers! The ladies and I had a great dive there and for the first time EVER I saw the anchor and a member of these boards was there with his underwater camera set up and got a great pic of the 3 of us. Unless I am with a class I will never dive Nubble on Saturdays in the "class season" but I do want to try the other side of the park nearer the gift shop sometime. Mayhaps I will see you there?

You're making a big mistake if that's all that's keeping you away on Saturday's [The real issue is parking.] Just surface swim to around the north edge of the island and go under there. There's plenty to see and you can get some good depth. The bulk of the classes are OW and just stay in the cove for the most part. Usually they are only there in the morning doing their check out dives. Nubble is awesome for night diving. It's great to watch the bugs walking along the bottom.

Miscommunication on my part. I meant that most likely I won't be at Nubble unless I am working for the shop and have students there. I live on the Big Lake in NH so traveling down to teh Nubble is a rare occurance unless it's for "work". One of the ladies has a family cottage they visit during the summer so if that happens again this year I will try and round up a couple folks and make the trip for a fun dive or two and see if we can all meet up!
