I did the Nubble tonight after all. It was a last minute decision. I walked out of the office at 5 - looked up at the sky and felt for any wind - and decided to make a go of it. I got there at 6:15 and it had just stopped raining. The sun was shining again. The marine forecast all day was for 15-25 kts out of the NW with occasional gusts of 30 kts. 2-4' seas. There was hardly a breeze when I got there and it stayed that way the rest of the evening. I ended up diving the N Cove because the S Cove was too rough and I only had 2/3 of a 100 tank to start. I just meandered around the cove . Saw a few little fish, some new plant growth, no bugs or crabs. There are 3 pots in the cove with that new sinking line. The viz was 15' max with no sediment - just kind of cloudy. Very little surge beneath the surface. 1-2' seas with occasional 2' surf on the ledges at the exit point. Had an easy entry at high tide but a marginal challenging exit 1/2 hour later. The ledges are not slippery right now because all the rock algae has been worn off over the winter by the weather. Had a tourist's kid bugging me the whole time I was getting rigged up. He wanted to help me get zipped up, wanted to attach stuff to me, was even rummaging through my trunk to see what else I had, wanted to carry some of my gear down to the water. What we celebrities have to put up with!!! He had a cute mom - what can I say! Oh well - on to Newport on Sunday for the Earth Day dive.
