Paul - if you haven't done a night dive at Nubble you are in for a treat. Especially with it being high tide:
1. The parking lot is lit up so you can get your bearings when you surface [we won't mention fog.]
2. You don't need to drag a flag around so you really put on a show for the tourists, standing around on the ledges, when you walk up out of the surf in the pitch black.
3. There are a lot of critters in the cove at high tide - maybe the squid will be attracted by our lights. You have to be careful on the entry/exit that you don't step on the juvenile lobster underfoot as they are right up against the water's edge.
4. It's enjoyable to stand around afterwards in the dark and talk to each other about what you saw that the others missed.
5. The cove is enclosed on three sides so it is hard to get lost. So long as you keep going in one direction [nothing with an N in it] for a while you will eventually end up against the shore.
6. It's an experience to be down at 40', alone, and shut the lights off for a short time - it's almost spiritual - [they did say the sharks are 20 miles offshore, right???] - this is when you really feel those guys sitting on your shoulders - your guardian angel on the left and that other one on your right -the one with the hay scythe.
7. The bars are still open in town so you can catch a quick one before heading home. You have to hurry though. They roll the streets up at 10.
