Is anyone interested in giving it a go Wednesday night at the Nubble? It's going to be a crap shoot with possible rain and slight winds out of the East. Be there at 6:30 for a 7 splash in the dark??? I'll go if others show an interest. You haven't got to commit --- I might be there, I might not, if I don't get any responses.

If I was back in the US I might have taken you up on that. Maybe get some Flo's earlier in the day. Good luck and have fun if you do go.

I'll be taking a drive to Nubble after work tonight. Conditions don't look very promising. If any one is there, I'll do a night dive with you. Otherwise I'll probably just be another topside tourist and watch the waves crash on the shore before taking a leisurely drive along the ocean back home. I don't like diving alone in crappy, dreary conditions. The conditions just go downhill after today for the next 4 or 5 days.

Thanks Porgy - I went there after work - arrived a little after 6:30. It was already full dark when I got there because of the heavy cloud cover - it rained on my way through Portsmouth. That didn't help my mood any. There were only 2 other cars in the p-lot --- no divers. The forecast was for 20 kt. gusts out of the E w/ 2-3' seas. They got the 2-3' seas right, but it was more of a sustained gail out of the E. You had to lean into the wind to walk. The surf was crashing on the rocks on the W side of the cove and there was a small surf at the entry but it looked like a very strong surge out of the N. When you have seas coming out of the N and the surf richochetting off the W shore you get a washing machine effect down under. Also under these conditions the viz is terrible. The dive would have been do-able but it wouldn't have been a good dive even in the daytime. I had foreseen this and had bought supper on my way so I ate that and then went home. Oh well..........

Thinking of trying the Nubble tomorrow. Winds show out of the south so I am hopeful it isn't bad viz and entry wise. Been a while since I dove there and I seem to recall the issue was with winds from the north and east correct?

Hello ScubaJay - That's true usually. Surface winds out of the S and W are preferable because they seem to negate the prevailing seas out of the N along Cape Neddick. The issue tomorrow is going to be the 7-11' seas forecast throughout the day. I don't think the S wind is going to be enough to knock these seas down, so there will probably be a lot of surf and surge at the entry/exit point. And the viz will probably be crappy after today and tonight's rains. If you are making a special trip out there I would reconsider and stick to Winnie. If you are going out there anyway on business I would definately have a plan B on the Piscataqua which I know you are familiar with.
