Again, too good a day to work so took afternoon off. Even blew off a conf. call.
I saw a few College students that had same idea and were ducking out of classes.
With temps in upper 80's, calm flat seas, no winds.. A great afternoon out. What would have made it perfect was the tide. Was going in as getting to low tide. Nubble's a site can really dive regardless of tide though prefer going in when tide is higher so don't slip getting in and out.
Dive 1 in at 2:30, 54 min bottom time. (Diving with my Steel LP 112) 75 fsw max. Temp at depth 48. Was fine diving wet. Went to other side island to do my usual run. Vis was great! 30+ feet? Love poking up and down through little valleys. Came back around island, still had about 1300 lbs so putzed around the cove checking out bugs. Did not see the Torpedo Ray spotted last week. One of these days, I need to try to go around island. I know others that have done it before. Just need to do it at high tide, stay shallow and close to shore.
Dive 2 in at 3:54, 38 min BT. (dove with my Steel LP 80) 67 fsw max
went out strait towards island, Didn't curve around. Just went to end and headed left in big circle heading back towards shore. As approached the island, saw the biggest lobzilla out in open. This sucker had to have been at least a 10 pounder. I just had to pick this one up and check out. Was definately a male. First time saw one that big out in open during the day.
Still amazes me the trash find there. I plastic Fence posts, tons of fowled lines all tangled, mangled abandoned pots, thousands of bricks and what's with all that cable?
I always wondered why those cables are there.
Tonight would be an awesome night dive! Full moon, calm, high tide. Hopefully some folks got out!
