It does amaze me what all my dive op does to make my visits comfortable...
  1. He picks up my gear at my hotel so it can be on the boat the next morning, rinses it and keeps it stored between trips, and returns it at the end of my trip.
  2. The hotel pickup includes my pony bottle, which is full and on the boat the next morning even if I arrive late in the day.
  3. I'd previously asked if he knew of any luggage repair shops on the island as I needed some zipper handles replaced, the few shoe remaining repair shops around here couldn't help, and I couldn't learn. "Sure, bring it if you can." I asked for the name and location, but he didn't have the address nor think that the shop has a name really nor spoke English, so he took it, had it fixed, and returned it.
  4. I am a coffee hound and like it in my room, so many trips I have purchased a cheap maker at Mega, then left it with various recipients. After I did that with him once, he's always delivered one on my first day, then picked it up after I leave.
  5. I still need to go to Mega for Kahlua, but he drops me off there after picking up my gear.
  6. If I organize a birthday dinner gathering, he's likely to show up with a cake (see photo below), but I didn't this year, so he comes on the boat that day and we have cake on the surface interval.
I'm not here to cheerlead for his business, he has plenty, just added another boat as expensive as those are with licenses on this island, but I thought I'd brag on him anonymously.

I'd say you've got it right. That's valet service at it's best.

I forgot who you dive with in Cozumel. Is it Salty Endeavors?

Curious: If you leave your gear down there, why do you need two 50lb bags to travel? And why not leave your pony there too?
I've considered it, but I like my tools here. I would have missed a Roatan Island trip last summer if I had.

Just don't become a P-I-T-A regular they have to smile at, serve and put up with because they want to keep you as a returning diver. There are "boutique" dive ops and there are divers who start to think that a "boutique" dive op should start offering complimentary massages during the SI, 3 courses of snacks, and where's the davit to gently hoist one from the surface into the boat? What's next, wiping their butts for them? With preferably lavender scented TP?

Confused: You said that he keeps it there between trips? Who is the op?
