Is the club still around, haven't got an email or t-shirt in over 10 months...

ChrisC, The club is under new management and has been driven into oblivion - IMHO. Of course I am not involved and have absolutely no clue what I am talking about at all. I actually apologize for even saying anything as it was completely out of line and ask for all to forgive me.

That's what I figured... 2nd year in a row paid for a family membership and got zip, Maybe it's time to start and Emerald Coast Dive Club?

Chris, I wasn't aware you paid for a membership last year or this year as we haven't taken any new members? We had meetings through the summer and into the fall last year regardless and I don't remember you at any meetings?

Barry, the club wasn't driven anywhere. Last year we attempted to move forward but as you might know there was an oil spill and the local dive community did not dive for obvious reason. Or maybe you didn't know? Of course you opted out of any participation 2 years ago so how would you know anything at all about the club.

We did do some dives with the few members we had at a few shore spots and the springs as a club. Chris the emails went out to everyone that was a member plus the membership from 2009 as well.

We have restructured the club to do away with any further politics as we had in the prior years to 2010 and the membership can focus on activities now and meeting and doing what the club was designed for diving and having fun.

We are having a meeting on Sept. 13th at 6:30 pm at Tailspins restaurant next to the dive shop. Chris you are welcome to come and we will go over the plans we have for the club and any ideas for activities you and others might have to offer. The dive club will be better and there will be no drama or problems as in the first year since we have rid the club of some of the problems and those that like to create them. Unfortunately, those people drove away the good members but many are coming back and we have a lot of new members that are coming along too. And those that didn't dive last year have come back this year and are happy with the new direction of the club.
We are rebuilding this club and we have one goal, to have fun. We have one major rule as well, no drama allowed.

Chris come by the shop sometime and see me and we can talk about your membership dues you paid and I will talk to the board and see what we can do for you.

Thanks,

carlos

I'm not really sure where the club is or where it went, and IMHO in times when you can't dive it is a great time to have an active club to get together and at least talk about diving. I wish the club the best in all it's future endevours.

Thanks Barry and I agree. I wish others felt the same way last year. We did have some decent turnouts for some meetings and the Thanksgiving and Christmas parties were a lot of fun with 20-30 people at each. tough year though for all and still have many that are just now getting back in the diving groove but many are still hurting and having to deal with making ends meet not hobbies and fun stuff.
wish you all the best too Barry and I don't think we will be able to match the job you did as President but well do our best to do what we can..

I vote for a trip to Truk.
