That's an Amaryllis (Hippeastrum). It's a bulb and a beautyDiver Dennis:

Very attractive Rick, and thought-provoking. I found myself thinking that if I had a beautiful plant like that in my backyard, my dog would have eaten it or rolled it flat by now.
