That's an Amaryllis (Hippeastrum). It's a bulb and a beauty :) (every now and then I get lucky and get a special blessing. Last year this plant never made it because it was destroyed by hail just before blooming, so I am elated to see it this year)

Very attractive Rick, and thought-provoking. I found myself thinking that if I had a beautiful plant like that in my backyard, my dog would have eaten it or rolled it flat by now.
