Who the $&@! told you that the diving was all the same in Bonaire?!
That's the thing I loved most about Bonaire, the variety! I am so confused.
The Salt Pier is a great dive. The pier itself, plus the shallows around it. There were a ton, a TON of nudibranchts and urchins and other small, extremely cool stuff. The town pier is absolutely a must of you are a photographer, and really, even if you are not. It's creepy and cool, and you get to see great stuff. I think you have to pay a few extra florins, but it's worth it.
Actually, the dock right behind Buddy Dive is a great night dive--in fact, there IS no bad night dive, do a night dive early and do it often.
And do The Hilma Hooker, like they said. (I shudder when I think of that dive, though, cause as I was entering the water, a rogue wave bashed into me and sat me right down on a giant head of fire coral, just like a chair. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. I was wearing a lycra skin, or it might have been much worse).
The best thing was to take the time to drive up to the north end of the island. The dive sites are often rugged and often really hard to get to, but TRUST ME, they are worth it. I wish I could remember the name of the beach we found at the north end, you park on a cliff and walk down to a beach with a beautiful grotto, and we had the place all to ourselves. It was the most beautiful beach I had, and still have, ever laid eyes on. We did 1000 steps, that was a nice dive, too. Sucked walking up alll those stairs with gear, but if I can do it, you can, too!
I wish we had discovered the north end before our last dive day, but what a way to end a week.
Can you tell I really loved Bonaire? I'm jealous!
