To tell everyone, i am 12 years old and i have just become certified.

On our water dive at Athens Scuba Park our dives were not fun. The water was so cold i could hardly stay underwater, and the water was so murkey I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. My family is taking a trip to the Grand Bahamas this summer and I was wondering if this will be better that 63 degree water and 6 inch visibility.

I think it's safe to say it will be warmer. It's more than likely the viz will be better (but that's very dependant on Mother Nature).

Congrats on your certification.

First, congratulations! As a matter of interest, I'm taking my (certified) 13 year old son to the Bahamas this summer as well, where I HOPE the water is a great deal warmer than 63!

Again, congratulations!

Difference in night without a moon
and noon time during the day.

They won't compare.

The bad makes you appreciate the good!!!

You'll love it. But when your love for scuba grows and you end up committed to the sport, you'll look forward even to the 6 inch vis. Well, maybe 3 foot vis.

I just got back from the Bahamas (San Salvador) and the dive masters there were complaining about the cold water and poor visibility...

77 degrees F
75 feet of visibility

Personally, I thought it was warm and clear.

Congrats on your certification.
You are now in a select group and you did it at the age of 12.
Props to you.
Have you done any dives other than class?
Other than my DIR fundamentals class I thought all my classes sucked.
I know they were for my own good but I still did not enjoy them.
About the Bahamma's... the water is really nice.
It might take you a couple of dives to get a comfort level but it's more than worth it.
Being that you learned in cold water with bad visability warm clear water will be much easier for you.
My boy got his cert when he was 12 in cold water. His next dives were in the Bahamma's.
By the end of our 10 day trip he was a diver with better skills than about all of the divers that were in my so called advanced class. I know this because he sat in on the class and did the dives but wasn't enrolled.

ok... i guess this is as good a place as any...

Bluefish... you know, your avatar is neither blue nor is it a fish...

:eyebrow:

why not change your name to Graymouse? :06:

Just be sure NOT to wear a 5 mil full suit... Congrats on the cert and I'm with you - I only dive in warm water. Call me a fair weather diver, but I got into it for enjoyment, and that is what _I_ enjoy. You will love the Caribbean.

Having spent four summers working at the Scout camp in Athens (a long time ago), I can attest to murky, but then again, we had a lot of alligators, too.
