I have to echo the sentiment that I have ordered from them with absolutely no problem on more than one occasion. Its easy to call someone a "crook" when you are dissatisfied with a particular outcome. So far, it appears that the satisfied buyers far outnumber the single dissatisfied buyer. Go figure that the result is to cry foul on all those people who have had no problem. Should a need arise, I would buy from them again.
 
I've made several purchases with them over the years and all transactions were handled to my complete satisfaction.

I would be unhappy to learn that I could not return something and only get store credit, but like the OP, I think I would have to blame myself for not making myself aware of the policy.
 
But the business in question is still in existence, and a post from yesterday describes them as crooks.

I have only ordered a couple of simple things from them, but all my transactions have been quite satisfactory. Businesses which promote goods they do not actually have to sell is one of my pet peeves. I have experience with other scuba retailers where this has been the case, but not with NE Scuba Supply.
 
Funny, I ordered a light from a business a while back. I had placed multiple orders with them in the past and had been satisfied customer. Their web site said they had six lights in stock. Three weeks went by and no light. I sent an email but no reply, even tried to call but got an answering machine. Finally sent one of the owners an email. Got a reply right away, he said would check on it. Another week went by with a few more emails and was finally told that they got it straighten out and I should see the light shortly. I figured the order got lost in the system (it happens) and it was being shipped out. Two more weeks went by and still no light. At this point (6 weeks later) I canceled the order. Then they decided to tell me, oh sorry the light was not in stock, we ordered the light two weeks ago for you, and have been having supply issues cause of the earthquake in Japan, might take a while. Go figure that one. :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:
 
My own policy unless specifically stated other wise is store credit for returned items. I will at times make a special offer of your money back on an item such as a mask that really does not fit. But not if the person has had it 6 months and the lens is scratched and the strap broken. 2 weeks trial, return it in like new condition and I will refund or offer another mask style to try.
 
I have ordered my regs and other items from NE. I have been very happy with the service. In the one instance where a reg was missing the mini pressure gauge a gauge was shipped that day. I ordered a can light recently that was not in stock. It was shipped to me directly from the manufacturer. I would not hesitate to recommend NE to any of my dive buddies.

I have just bought 2 H-valves from them: great and quick service...
... but one of the pipes arrived broken...

John sent me a replacement pair for free; I did not even paid for shipping (in Canada).

So yes I got great service and will certainly buy again there.

I recently ordered a used AL40 and stage rigging from them, plus some other bits and a t-shirt; even with the attrocious shipping to HI (I can almost ship a pair of AL80s for what they charged me for one 40), it was a good deal since the tank shipped O2 clean and plugged, with an separate O2 clean VIP sticker for me to apply when it's setup and ready to go. Without my communicating with them, they refunded $13.99 to my card for no apparent reason. I assumed it was a refund for the outrageously expensive shipping, but it turned out they were simply refunding the cost of the t-shirt that was apparently not in stock.

Would buy from again, probably.
