My friends and live in the Jacksonville area and have been diving for a little over year. We have done Ginnie, Blue Grotto, Devil's Den and are getting kind of burnt out on springs (for all you guys and girls that loves springs I mean no disrespect). I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction of where we should go diving. I would like to keep it about a 3 hour drive from Jacksonville if possible.

Thanks!

Why drive anywhere when there is spectacular diving right offshore your own hometown? Divers Den in Kingsland runs a charter out of mayport and so does jax scuba center. Give them a try, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by all the diving that is offshore of Jacksonville.

Ditto, the vis has been up to 30' inshore mostly and up to 100' offshore. This Nor'easter may silt it up but diving here is awesome.Probably more wrecks and artificial reefs than all of the southern counties combined.Maybe 20% of what is actually out there is published. Not to mention hundreds if not a thousand or more distinct ledges and areas of live bottom.Temps will be above 70 until around Christmas.

For offshore jax diving how deep is it? We are all open water cert, is that going to be a problem?

Inshore to me is inside 20 miles or less than 100' deep. There are quite a few wrecks, ledges and reefs in 60' to 80' that are within 10 miles.

Ok I am available next weekend...10/6 and am looking for some ocean diving. My last couple attempts to dive off JAX were foiled by bad weather. Looking at the tropical storm out there, it might be the same for next weekend, but I am willing to give it another try! Let me know 'cause I am happy to dive with ya!

Happy diving!
