Over the last few months I have perceived the number of active members of this board located in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania area to have more than doubled.

More importantly than the actual number of members located in this area is the fact that more and more of them are talking about local diving instead (or in addition to) of running off to warmer climates to do all their diving.

Along these lines I'd like to get some insight on what is required if we wanted to form a Gotham (or whatever we might decide to call it later) chapter of Neptune Divers Club? How many of you local's here would be interested in joining this club? And other discussions on this topic....

Dreamingly,
Spydertek

Spyder,

In order to be an NDI charter club, you just have to have 5 registered NDI members. Other than that, how you set it up is up to you and your group members.

We will be starting to take membership application soon, so stay tuned.

What about CT and MA?!? I know we have board members in those states, not to mention VT, NH, ME and RI.

(Look Ma, I learned my geography!)

Count me in, as long as you'll except membership from the snobby keystone state!

Scuba-sass :-)

.....My wife and I don't have coldwater gear yet.
Also Rochester is still a long ways from NYC and NJ.
It does sound interesting ......hmmmmmmmmmm.

LOL, sorry Sass. I wasn't trying to be exclusionary in my stated states.

Was thinking more along the lines of logistics and traveling. I Suppose CT should also be definately in the mix. After all it is considered part of the "Tri-State area".. However, I've travelled around the North east a bunch by car and a little by train and I didn't think MA, VT, NH, or ME were with an hour or two access to Manhattan or the New Jersey Shore. These being the two prime areas I would have thought most appropriate meeting places for the "area" I had in mind.

Come to think of it however, it is possible that RI is within 2 huors drive of areas of the Jersey Shore.

Again, I wasn't trying to excluse anyone and I didn't really give everything alot of thought before posting the idea. Jsut wanted to find out if it were possible to start a chapter and what might be needed. I am very definately open to discussions of logistics - meeting places, frequency, and whatever else goes into building a "club"

Properly ashamed,

I'd like to join but i'm here in So Cal. However, on that note. what about the socal chapter???

Hi again Spyder,

The survey missed "already in another club" as an option... Well, hmm... Maybe not club. There's no dues or anything, but there are rare meetings to discus upcoming dives.

I dive with a bunch of other people most Sundays out of a LDS in Avon by the Sea in NJ. Members range from recent OW to master instructors in a random mix from week to week.

We are in no way affiliated with the shop other than we prety much buy most all of our gear there and hang out for hours for no apparent reason while scaring off the real customers... :)

As it gets warmer the group plans to start having some Saturday dives and an occational evening dive during the week as well as the regular Sunday dives.

Send me a private message if you are interested in the group (or info on the shop we use).

I dive in MA, NH & ME and will dive with anyone who has a good head on their shoulders and will dive responsibly.

Dive Safe ……..Arduous

Well it definately seems like we have our required 5 and the poll has only been up for less than 24 hours.

guess now we all just need to "stay tuned" to find out the next step..

any input from you Texas Divers on what we might need to consider in this venture?

Thanks.

Clubingly,

Spydertek

I'm a Ma diver too so if you all do a few dives and the wife and I can get away we would love to dive with you also
