Police say it's likely the body of a diver found in North Canterbury this morning is that of a woman who went missing while searching for crayfish over the weekend. Police divers found the body about 8.45am, only 100m from the last known position of the missing 37-year-old.

She was last seen just after 9am on Sunday after going diving off Motunau Beach with a friend.

A formal identification has yet to take place and police are continuing their inquiry.
