This site is so great! Everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable! LD, I think I'll let you guinnea pig one and let me know how it goes. I am not looking to enter photos in a contest, just want to keep a photo chronicle my dives.

If the link works. The "2000" and "2001" pictures were taken with a disposable that my LDS sells. It's good down to 45 ft. The rest were taken with a Sealife Reefmaster. I don't have a strobe or macro lense...yet!

Great pics! Makes me want to run from my desk and go for a dive!

You can definitely tell the difference between cameras!

I found that the disposable cameras (the cheap 15 ft ones) Will actually go down to at least 45 ft. Only problem is that you have to go up to 15 to advance them!

Jarhead,

I think once you get a strobe for that reefmaster, you'll find a little more color and far less backscatter!

I just bought the S&S MX 5 II from Divers Direct outlet in Key West. I did not expect very much since it was my first time shooting underwater. However, most of my pictures came out very well and some durn well near perfect. Many had big round blobs in them that I supposed was backscatter. I didn't get the strobe and was just using the internal flash. The camera was $189 and the strobe costs $214. I'll upgrade someday to digital with a few bells and whistles, but until then it's point and shoot.:jester:

As a proficient land photography, I understand that some of my best pix were taken on cloudy days. Therefore, I underestimated the need for a strobe.

However, last night I attended the HUPS (Houston U/W Photo) meeting. I saw pix taken with and without strobe with the same camera. What a difference! I am definately purchasing a strobe before our next dive.
