Are there any strobes from other vendors that will work with ikelite's ttl system?

The ikelite housing doesn't let the on-camera flash pop up, so optical strobes are out.

I have seen lots of info on optical ttl, but aside from being triggered by the on-camera hotshoe, how does the flash compensate and modify it's power without direct communication with the camera?

Camera is a canon 40d in the ikelite housing.

yup, lots of views zero answers..

turns out no strobes work with ikelite's ttl but ikelites! who would have thunk it.

You might be able to find a used Ike strobe on eBay or here in the used forum. I have a Sea and Sea YS 110 which has a socket that I can attach an Ikelite triggering cable to. The strobe has plus and minus control for proper exposure and the cable provides more secure triggering control, but of course no TTL.
