What are your favorite non diving activities? We will have 2 days of no diving. How is the ferry/water taxi to Klien? Is that a good place to spend the day lazing on the beach?

Windsurfing on Lac Bay
Snorkeling
Kayaking
Touring the National Park

Haven't done the beach thing on Klein. I think some people have rented a sailboat. If you have sailing experience, that would be fun.

The last two times I have been on Bonaire, I did the Donkey Sanctuary on our offgas day. It is hilarious. It may not be for everybody but we have a friggin hoot every time.

I skipped the donkeys on our last visit to Bonaire.
They use the donkeys in different ways just across the US-Mexico border in Tijuana. I wouldn't exactly call it a "friggin hoot," though. :D

Which is why I did not say "......but we and bubbletrubble have a friggin hoot...."

Go to the park, great trip for your first time. Be careful of the road, drive slow! Make sure you have a jack in case of a flat tire:shakehead:Other than that enjoy yourself... On your way back from the park, stop at LacBay and have a drink and dinner, enjoy the windsurfers.:cool2:

My family loves the donkeys. They are really sweet and clever at getting you to stop and feed them. One will see you coming then walk out in the road so you have to stop. While you are stopped you will be joined by a couple dozen more.

I really want to do the mangrove kayak, that sounds awesome.

I second a drive through tour of Washington-Slagbaii Park; take the paper you got with your marine park permit (you bought for diving while on Bonaire) and you won't have to pay the entry fee. If you've got some banana or the like you can try hand-feeding some of the Bonaire Whiptail Lizards, or perhaps an Iguana (a friend fed both).

A drive around and across the island looking at the native vegetation & perhaps a bit of wildlife is nice. They've got a green parrot with a yellow head; I've seen a couple of those.

Toward the south I've watched kite surfing; kind of interesting. Red Slave & White Slave are worth a visit to see how some slaves were kept; take a photo of the informative placards.

Richard.

The water taxi to Klein is a fine and there is some nice snorkeling but be aware that there is no shade and no facilities at Klein. Also, if you happen to have your non-diving day when a cruise ship is in port the water taxi and Klein can get very crowded. Others have suggested the park but if you don't want to spend a lot of time making the trip you can also take the road to Gotomeer (last turn before BOPEC in the north) to see lots of flamingos and come back through Rincon. We like to spend our last day driving around the southern end of the island, taking pictures, stopping to watch the windsurfers and having lunch at Lac, driving to Lac Cai for a different view of Lac Bay, driving to Seru Largu for the view and planning our next trip to Bonaire.
